While we are willing to take the majority of your items to your new home, there are some things we don’t recommend giving to a moving company and some things that we simply won’t move. It’s important to check with your specific moving company to get to know their policies better, but as a general rule these are the items you shouldn’t expect your moving company to transport.

Things you should transport yourself, but we will transport at your own risk:
Â
- Photo albums
- Money
- Checkbooks
- Jewelry
- Financial Documents
- Medical records
- Medication
- Car Keys
- Personal mementos
- Open top boxes
- Large Pottery

While most companies will insure your belongings in the event that they were damaged during the move, we advise you to transport irreplaceable items yourself. Here at Jones Moving & Storage, we will transport your personal memorabilia, but it’s at your own risk. While companies may compensate you for lost or damaged goods, it won’t get back your memories.
Things we will not transport:
Â
- Explosives
- Chemicals/Acids
- Flammable items
- Weapons
- Pesticides
- Poisons
If your belongings will not arrive to their new destination within 24 hours, perishable items will not be allowed on the truck. For local moves we will transport your food, but they will need to be properly packed with ice or ice packs. We will load them last so they will come off of the truck first at your new home.
